Cold-process soap, cured the old way.

Cold-process is the traditional soap-making method — no heat shortcuts, no melt-and-pour bases, no synthetic surfactants. Just oils, lye, and a long, slow cure that turns the mixture into a genuinely mild bar.

Why we make cold-process soap.

Cold-process soap is what soap used to be before industrial detergent bars took over the shelf. Oils and lye are combined at low temperature, the reaction (called saponification) finishes over 24 to 48 hours, and then the bar cures — dries out and matures — for six to eight weeks before it ever touches skin.

That long cure is what separates a proper cold-process bar from anything you'd find in a drugstore. Water evaporates and the bar hardens, which is why our bars last three to four weeks of daily use instead of dissolving in a week. The pH drops from about 10 down to 9 — closer to skin's natural range and noticeably gentler. The molecular structure organizes into a stable crystal lattice, which is what gives cured soap its silky lather.

Every GHAM Naturals bar is cold-processed and cured a minimum of six weeks. Nothing about it is rushed. If a bar sells out, you're waiting on a batch that's still curing on our shelf — because there's no way to shortcut the cure without ending up with the kind of bar we set out to replace.
