What does your skin do?
You shouldn't have to read 37 ingredient lists to pick a bar. Choose the description that sounds like your skin (or your hair) and we'll show you exactly which bars are formulated for it, what's in them, and how to choose between them.
Soap for dry skin
If your skin feels tight after a shower, the bar matters more than the moisturizer that follows it. These are our most butter- and oil-heavy formulas — designed to cleanse without leaving skin feeling stripped.
- •Skin that feels tight, rough or flaky after washing
- •Winter showers, hard water, and heated indoor air
- •Anyone switching away from a stripped-feeling body wash
Soap for sensitive skin
Simple ingredient lists, mild clays, and little or no added fragrance. These are the bars we point people to when their skin doesn't get along with most soap.
- •Skin that flushes, stings or feels itchy after washing
- •Anyone who reacts to strongly scented products
- •Children and older skin
Soap for oily skin
Clays and activated charcoal bind to surface oil and grime, so the bar does the work instead of a harsh detergent. Formulated for skin that looks shiny by midday.
- •Skin that looks shiny a few hours after washing
- •Combination skin — oily forehead and nose, drier cheeks
- •Post-workout and end-of-day washing
Fragrance-free soap
Every bar on this page is made without fragrance oils and without essential oils. What you smell is the ingredients themselves — honey, oats, milk, clay, cocoa.
- •Anyone who reacts to scented products
- •Fragrance-restricted households and workplaces
- •Babies, kids, and very sensitive skin
Vegan soap
Some of our bars use grass-fed tallow, raw honey or goat milk. These don't. Every bar on this page is made entirely from plant oils, butters, clays and botanicals.
- •Vegan and plant-based households
- •Anyone avoiding animal fats or bee products
- •Gifting when you're not sure of someone's preferences
Goat milk soap
Goat milk brings fat, protein and naturally occurring lactic acid to the bar. The result is a creamy, low-foam wash that feels closer to a cleansing milk than to soap.
- •Dry-feeling or easily-irritated skin
- •Anyone who dislikes a squeaky, high-foam lather
- •Mature skin looking for a very mild daily bar
Shampoo bars
Not a body bar sold for hair. These are formulated for the scalp — gentle surfactants, conditioning botanicals, and no sulfates.
- •Anyone cutting plastic bottles out of the bathroom
- •Scalps that feel tight or itchy after sulfate shampoo
- •Travellers — solid, so no liquids bag
Soap for swimmers
Chlorine and a hot rinse are a rough combination — skin feels tight, hair feels like straw. These are the bars we'd take to the pool: clarifying enough to shift the smell, conditioning enough that you don't step out feeling stripped.
- •Lap swimmers and pool regulars
- •Kids on swim team, in the water most days
- •Open-water and saltwater swimmers
Every bar we make is a cosmetic cleanser, not a treatment. We describe how a bar is formulated and how it feels — we don't claim it treats eczema, acne or any other condition. Full ingredient lists are published on every product page, and we recommend patch-testing any new bar. Prefer a guided quiz?
