Why raw honey belongs in your soap

Why raw honey belongs in your soap

Raw honey has been used on skin for over four thousand years. It's one of the few ingredients where the traditional claim and the modern research line up almost perfectly.

What raw honey brings to a bar of soap

Not all honey is equal. Raw honey — unheated, unfiltered — retains the enzymes, antioxidants, and trace hydrogen peroxide that pasteurized supermarket honey has lost. Those are the parts that matter on skin.

  • Humectant — pulls moisture into the skin during the wash
  • Naturally antibacterial — via glucose oxidase and low pH
  • Rich in antioxidants — flavonoids and phenolic acids that support skin repair
  • Gentle — suitable for most sensitive-skin routines
How we use it

Raw honey is temperature-sensitive. Add it too hot and you scorch the enzymes. We stir it in at the low end of the cold-process window so the benefits survive the pour and cure.

Who it suits

Raw honey soap is one of the best entry points into natural skincare — it's forgiving on dry skin, calming on reactive skin, and gentle enough for daily face-and-body use. Our Honey & Oat and Honey Turmeric bars both lean on it.
